Mark Takeshi McGregor is a Vancouver-based flutist who enjoys a diverse career as a soloist, chamber musician, arts administrator, and educator. As a flute performer, his recent engagements include the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Little Chamber Music Series That Could, Innovations en Concert (Montreal), GroundSwell (Winnipeg), Honolulu Festival, the Melos-Ethos Festival (Bratislava), Núcleo Música Nova’s International Symposium of New Music (Curitiba, Brazil), and the 2017 ISCM World New Music Days (Vancouver). An advocate of new music for the flute, Mark has commissioned and premiered dozens of new works, including concerti, chamber music, and solo works. He has an extensive discography on both the Redshift and Centrediscs labels, with his latest release, Lutalica, praised by MusicWorks Magazine for its “lean focused intensity.” A passionate arts educator, McGregor teaches at the Vancouver Academy of Music, the VSO School of Music, and Vancouver Community College, and for many years served as faculty at the West Coast Amateur Musicians Society Summer Camp; his own education includes degrees from the University of British Columbia, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and le Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal.
